This course prepares students to pass the National Healthcareer Association Exam to become a Patient Care Technician/Associate.
This course entails: (Tentative)
- Week 1 includes: Entry-level skills training (22 CNA skills)
- Week 2 includes: Theoretical concepts such as the role and responsibilities of a Nursing Assistant, various healthcare settings, infection control, blood-borne pathogens, HIPPA, Alzheimer's care, resident rights, assistance with medication, etc.
CEUs: Included - At the end of this course, CEUs per applicable topic will be given.
- Week 3 includes: Phlebotomy and EKG Training.
Some course topics include: Phlebotomy role in healthcare, Anatomy, and Physiology of the circulatory system, safety precautions, OSHA's needle stick injury precautions, hands-on practice with various Phlebotomy equipment. Techniques, specimen identification, and handling, venipuncture in Pediatrics, fingerstick puncture are also covered in this course.
(Please note that you will have to attend class from 9 am to 5 pm for two days during this course.)
Uniform is REQUIRED:
Sky blue scrub top and jeans for men, and full scrub outfit for women.
