Patient Care Technician (PCT) Prep Course.

This course will prepare students to earn National Certification as a Patient Care Technician (PCT). Students will complete 30 venipuncture and 10 capillary punctures on a manikin arm and then a human arm before they are deemed eligible to take the exam. Upon completion of the PCT Prep Course, you will take the CNA State Board Exam with us, at our training center, and then the PCT exam with the National Healthcareer Association.


This program will also prepare students for employment as cross-trained as Nursing Assistants, Patient Care Assistants, Nursing Aides/Orderlies, or Home Health Aides. This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills, expanding the traditional role of the nursing assistant, for both acute and long term care settings. Students will perform nursing skills in the clinical and simulated laboratory settings under the supervision of a qualified instructor.


Class hours: Monday - Thursday, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, or 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm (tentative).

After completing the CNA training, you are expected to register for the CNA State Board Exam immediately to earn your CNA license. **A CNA license is REQUIRED to become a PCT.


CNA State Board Exam will be taken on-site.​ We will also provide assistance with job placement.

This course entails: (Tentative)


- Week 1 includes: Entry-level skills training (22 CNA skills)

- Week 2 includes: Theoretical concepts such as the role and responsibilities of a Nursing Assistant, various healthcare settings, infection control, blood-borne pathogens, HIPPA, Alzheimer's care, resident rights, assistance with medication, etc.

- Week 3-4 includes: Phlebotomy and EKG Training.

Course topics include: Phlebotomists role in healthcare, Anatomy, and Physiology of the circulatory system, safety precautions, OSHA's needle stick injury precautions, hands-on practice with various Phlebotomy equipment. Techniques, specimen identification, and handling, venipuncture in Pediatrics, fingerstick puncture are also covered in this course.


You must possess either a high school diploma or the equivalent, or expect to earn your high school diploma or equivalency within the next 12 months.

To register for your exams:

  • The application fee for the CNA Exam is $155 

  • The application fee for PCT Exam is $155 

  • Applications are done online only

  • Payment must be made with a debit or credit card

  • Please allow 30 to 45 days for the processing of your application for the CNA exam.

  • An application is good for one year

  • A clean criminal background check is required to take the CNA State Board Exam.

**In light of the precautionary measures we must take due to Covid-19, we have changed some of the required tasks students must perform to complete this course. This will be discussed further on the first day of class.
